Na wat lastige series, begin ik eerst maar eens met wat bierfoto's...

Of is het een blikje frisdrank?

– Ah, good old Beer brand Beer:

How much Beer-brand beer can three guys drink?

Can anyone decipher the name of this beer? That shit looks awesome.

Roseanne Drinking Beer (http://bestmomstv.com/)

Roseanne was one of the most successful series of the late '80s and early '90s. It always received great ratings and was awarded with 4 Emmys, 3 Golden Globes, 4 American Comedy Awards and a Peabody. The show ran from 1988 to 1997 and ended with one of the most original (and confusing for some) endings in TV history (www.tv.com/shows/roseanne/).

The story of a working class family struggling with life's essential problems: Marriage, Children, Money and Parents in Law.
Creator: Matt Williams
Stars: Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf | (www.imdb.com/title/tt0094540/)

The show is centered on the Conners, an American working-class family struggling to get by on a limited household income in the fictional town of Lanford, Illinois. Lanford was nominally located in Fulton County, but other on-air references over the years suggest the town is in the vicinity of Aurora, Elgin, and DeKalb, which are much closer to Chicago. The family consisted of outspoken Roseanne, married to husband Dan, with three children; Becky, Darlene, and D.J.
....
In coming up with ideas for new shows, Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner of Carsey-Werner Productions decided to look into the concept of the working mother as a central voice. Up until that point, there had been shows with working mothers, but only as an adjunct to the father in the family. Werner had suggested that they take a chance on Barr whom they had seen on The Tonight Show. This was because he saw the unique "in your face" voice that they were looking for, and he contacted her agent and offered her the role. Barr's act at the time was the persona of the "domestic goddess", but as Carsey and Werner explains, she had the distinctive voice and attitude for the character and she was able to transform her into the working class heroine they envisioned.
...
Many critics considered the show notable as one of the first sitcoms to portray a blue-collar American family with two parents working outside the home, as well as lead characters who were noticeably overweight without their weight being the target of jokes. The show was also significant for its portrayal of feminist ideals including a female-dominated household, a female lead whose likability did not rely on her appearance, relationships between female characters that were cooperative rather than competitive, and females openly expressing themselves without negative consequences.
....
Barr's real-life brother and sister are gay, which inspired her to push for introducing gay characters and issues into the show and was part of the reason for her fallout with former executive producer Matt Williams, who protested making the character Nancy a lesbian. "My show seeks to portray various slices of real life, and homosexuals are a reality," said Barr (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roseanne).

I looked to TV more as an escape, not to see a reflection of my own life. That’s changed over time, but during the years Roseanne was on the air, I was in my late teens and early 20s, and more drawn to NBC’s stable of sitcoms, which tended to be about attractive young professionals who didn’t share my constant worries about money. I really only caught up with Roseanne after it went off the air, and while the quality of the show was indisputable, it still made me uncomfortable at times, just because the milieu of the show itself was so reminiscent of my own youth. I’ve sat around that kitchen table, with that cluttered pantry in the background. The image is homey, but also reflects my own memories of want (www.avclub.com/article/a-personal-iroseannei-episode-mirrors-its-stars-fl-88765).

Many critics considered the show notable as one of the first sitcoms to portray a blue-collar American family with two parents working outside the home, as well as lead characters who were noticeably overweight without their weight being the target of jokes. For many years, Roseanne tackled provocative subjects and issues such as poverty, alcoholism, drug abuse, menstruation, birth control, teenage pregnancy, masturbation, obesity, abortion, race, social class, domestic violence, infidelity, and gay rights (http://roseanne.wikia.com/wiki/Roseanne_(TV_series)).

Roseanne Conner
Roseanne Conner is the title character of Roseanne, she is played by Roseanne Barr. Roseanne, in a takeoff of her stand-up comedic and presumed real-life persona, is a bossy, loud, caustic, overweight, and dominant woman. She constantly tries to control the lives of her sister, husband, children, co-workers, and friends. Despite her dominating nature, Roseanne is a loving mother who works hard and makes as much time for her kids as possible....She and her younger sister Jackie are the daughters of Beverly and Al Harris. Roseanne is married to Dan Conner and, when the series begins, they have three children: Becky, Darlene and David Jacob ("D.J."); a fourth child, Jerry Garcia, is born late in the series. She and her family deal with the many hardships of poverty, obesity, and domestic troubles with humor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roseanne_Conner).
Roseanne Cherrie Barr (born November 3, 1952) is an American actress, comedian, writer, television producer, director, and 2012 presidential nominee of the California-based Peace and Freedom Party. Barr began her career in stand-up comedy at clubs before gaining fame for her role in the sitcom Roseanne. The show was a hit and lasted nine seasons, from 1988 to 1997. She won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her work on the show. Barr had crafted a "fierce working-class domestic goddess" persona in the eight years preceding her sitcom and wanted to do a realistic show about a strong mother who was not a victim of patriarchal consumerism....After her sitcom ended, she launched her own talk show, The Roseanne Show, which aired from 1998 to 2000. In 2005, she returned to stand-up comedy with a world tour. In 2011, she starred in an unscripted TV show, Roseanne's Nuts, that lasted from July to September of that year, about her life on a Hawaiian farm (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roseanne_Barr).

Daniel "Dan" Conner
Dan Conner is a primary fictional character in the Roseanne television series. He is the husband to fellow primary character Roseanne Conner, and father to two daughters Darlene and Becky Conner, and two sons D.J. Conner and Jerry Garcia Conner. He is portrayed by John Goodman.
Throughout the years, Goodman has won several awards, including a Golden Globe, for his portrayal of Dan Conner (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Conner). Played by John Goodman. Dan Conner is the husband of Roseanne and father of Becky, Darlene, DJ, and Jerry. Dan is a loving, easygoing drywall contractor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Roseanne_characters#
Daniel_.22Dan.22_Conner).

Dan Conner was portrayed by John Goodman. When he was chosen, co-star Roseanne Barr stated that she was happy, adding that she had a "big crush" on him from the start.
At one point during the second to the last season, Goodman walked off the set after co-star Roseanne Barr had an on-set outburst. It was speculated that he was growing tired of her outbursts. While he considered leaving for good, Goodman held negotiations with its producers. At first, he agreed to finish the episode, but later agreed to do an episode to explain his exit. However, Goodman eventually agreed to return to the series. John Goodman chose to reduce his role in Roseanne to focus on his film career. After this announcement, he was in negotiations with the producers on how many episodes he would appear in the following season (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Conner).

During the final episode, Roseanne reveals that the entire series was written as a book based on her life and family, and she changed certain elements of what she hadn't liked; most notably, during the final season, Dan and Roseanne are shown living apart after Dan cheats on Roseanne, but he had actually died from his heart attack at Darlene and David's wedding near the end of Season 8. Writing that he cheated was her way of explaining her feelings of loss and abandonment from his death. The potential absence of Dan from all or most of the next season prompted Phil Rosenthal of the Los Angeles Daily News to describe it as a rare occasion where ending the show would be preferred to doing without. Robinson described Goodman's potential absence as leaving a tremendous void, owing to his ability to make those acting with him better. The revelation that Dan actually died and the series' being a work of fiction within the show was not well received.
In an article about television dads, The Post and Courier editor Mindy Spar began discussing how '90s TV dads became goofier than dads from earlier decades, calling Dan more like one of the children than the father. IGN editor Edgar Arce called Dan Conner a prototypical everyman.
An article in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune praised Dan and Roseanne's relationship, calling it realistic and commenting that while they mock each other, viewers can feel their love while they deal with the kinds of problems real families face. Daily News editor David Bianculli stated that while they were the most entertaining and realistic couples on television, they were one of the least during their separation. Their relationship was included in TV Guide's list of the best TV couples of all time (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Roseanne_characters#Daniel_.22Dan.22_Conner). John Stephen Goodman (born June 20, 1952) is an American actor. Early in his career, he was best known for playing Dan Conner on the ABC TV series Roseanne (1988–1997), for which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in 1993. He is also a regular collaborator with the Coen brothers on such films as Raising Arizona (1987), Barton Fink (1991), The Big Lebowski (1998), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), and Inside Llewyn Davis (2013). Goodman's voice roles in animated films include Pacha in Disney's The Emperor's New Groove (2000), and Sulley in Pixar's Monsters, Inc. (2001) and Monsters University (2013).
His other film performances include lead roles in The Babe (1992) and The Flintstones (1994) and supporting roles in The Artist (2011), Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2011), Argo (2012), Flight (2012), and The Hangover Part III (2013). On television, he has had regular roles on Amazon Studios' Alpha House and on the first season of HBO's Treme, and has been one of the most frequent hosts of Saturday Night Live. John Heilpern of Vanity Fair has called him "among our very finest actors."....In a 2009 interview, Goodman was open about his alcoholism, saying, "I don't know how much the old Jackie Daniel's franchise ruined my memory, which is going anyway, because of my advancing decrepitude. I had a 30-year run, and at the end I didn't care about anything. I was just fed up with myself. I didn't even want to be an actor anymore." In October 2012, he said, "If I'd picture in my mind a drink—usually straight out of the bottle—I couldn't not do it." While acting in plays, "I'd have the shakes so bad I'd have to have a drink to get through the show. I'm lucky I never got fired." Eventually, he "bottomed out." Goodman has been sober since 2007, and tries to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting every morning. By August 2010, Goodman had lost 100 pounds. He has stated that exercising and keeping a journal of food he consumed are what helped him keep the weight off. Goodman has lost even more weight since that time. Goodman's new slimmer figure attracted much attention when he appeared at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2015 and the BFI London Film Festival in October 2015 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goodman).

Marjorie/Jacqueline "Jackie" Harris
Played by Laurie Metcalf. Jackie is Roseanne's younger sister by three years. In the episode "Labor Day," it is revealed that Jackie's real name may have originally been Marjorie, as her mother reveals that Roseanne couldn't pronounce it, and wound up calling her "My Jackie", thus leading to Jackie's name. Jackie is an intelligent, warm, highly sensitive underachiever with chronic low self-esteem. Roseanne seems to be in charge of Jackie's life, which is a frequent cause of conflict between the two; however, Jackie sometimes enjoys having Roseanne mother her, especially when Jackie feels vulnerable. Jackie's character seems to become more animated and colorful as the series progresses. Jackie holds numerous jobs: working in the Wellman Plastics factory for several years until the walkout, then becoming a police officer until she is injured on the job, and later a truck driver, then opening the Lanford Lunch Box with Roseanne and Nancy (her mother is a silent partner). ..., she eventually marries Dan's co-worker Fred, who impregnated her during a one-night stand. Jackie gives birth to their son, Andy, two months before she marries Fred. At one point Jackie, unhappy with the self-absorbed couch potato Fred, ....The marriage proves to be short-lived because Jackie finds Fred boring, petty, and self-centered and they fall out of love. Jackie is crushed by the divorce at first, but moves on to become a successful single mom to Andy. Despite Jackie's apparent flightiness in the early episodes, Jackie is actually the backbone of the Conner/Harris family in many ways, as Roseanne admits in the last episode. In the final episode, it is also revealed that the character of Jackie had been a lesbian all along, and that Roseanne knew but had simply always pictured Jackie with a man (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Roseanne_characters#
Marjorie.2FJacqueline_.22Jackie.22_Harris). Laura Elizabeth "Laurie" Metcalf (born June 16, 1955) is an American actress. She is known for her performance as Jackie Harris on the ABC sitcom Roseanne and has also had series television roles as Carolyn Bigsby on Desperate Housewives and Mary Cooper on The Big Bang Theory. Her motion picture roles include the voice of Mrs. Davis in the Toy Story film series and the character Debbie Loomis/Debbie Salt in Scream 2, as well as roles in such critically acclaimed films as Making Mr. Right, JFK, and Mistress. Metcalf frequently works in Chicago theater, where she is known for her performance in the 1983 revival of Lanford Wilson's play Balm in Gilead. ...She is a three-time Emmy Award winner, and has won both a Theatre World Award and two Obie Awards for her work on the stage (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurie_Metcalf).

In one episode, Jackie says what she loves about Chicago is the theatre. In real-life, Laurie Metcalf is one of Chicago's most famous stage actresses (www.imdb.com/title/tt0094540/trivia?ref_=tt_ql_2).

Remember when Roseanne and Jackie opened the Lanford Lunch Box and started serving loose meat sandwiches? Turns out Roseanne and Tom Arnold opened a real life version of the place in Iowa. Don’t plan a road trip, it failed after they divorced (http://swallowdaily.com/2013/07/round-up-66-banana-splits-wil-wheatons-beer-the-lanford-lunch-box/www.tvacres.com/restaurants_lanford.htm).

The address of the Conner family is 714 Delaware St. The actual house used for the exterior is located at 619 S. Runnymeade St. in Evansville, Indiana...All the exterior shots going to and coming from commercial breaks are shots of various city streets and buildings in Evansville, IN. This is where Matt Williams, the executive producer, was born and raised as well as attended college at the University of Evansville. He graduated from F.J. Reitz high school in Evansville. (www.imdb.com/title/tt0094540/trivia?ref_=tt_ql_2).

Becky
Rebecca "Becky" Conner Healy (played by both Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke) is the oldest daughter of Dan and Roseanne Conner. She is sister to Darlene, D.J., and Jerry....Becky was an extremely intelligent child who was pretty, popular and enjoyed a close mother-daughter relationship with Roseanne—as opposed to her tomboyish, irresponsible and antisocial sister, Darlene (http://roseanne.wikia.com/wiki/Becky_Conner).

Becky, the oldest of Roseanne and Dan's kids, is quite bright and is an overachiever, but she is also somewhat quick-tempered and sometimes angry with her parents and younger sister Darlene. She dates her rebellious biker boyfriend Mark Healy against her parents' wishes and then, at age 17, leaves home to marry him and move to Minneapolis. Later, Becky and Mark return home to live with Roseanne and Dan and then move out again into a trailer. In the final episode, it is revealed that she is pregnant with the couple's first child (http://roseanneshow.wikia.com/wiki/Becky_Conner).

... two actresses play Becky (Alicia Goranson and Sarah Chalke)...At the very end of Sarah Chalke's first episode after replacing Alicia Goranson in the role of Becky the family is seen watching an episode of Bewitched (1964) and discussing how the producers of the show must've been stupid to think that no one would notice that they replaced the Original Darren (Dick York) with another actor (Dick Sargent). Becky (Sarah Chalke, relating to being a second actor to play a character) mentions that she liked the second Darren better.....In Alicia Goranson's first episode after her absence, Roseanne and Dan were in D.J.s old room which they were fixing up for the new baby, when Becky shows up at the door with a drop cloth. Roseanne asks "Where the hell have you been?" A little later, Darlene and D.J. are in the laundry room when Becky walks in and Darlene asks "Where the hell have you been?", prompting Becky to question, "Why does everyone keep asking that"?...Although Alicia Goranson returned in the eight season to play Becky, Sarah Chalke, her replacement, still played Becky in some episodes that season. When Goranson left the show again at the end of the season, Chalke took on the role of Becky full time again.......Sarah Chalke took over the role of Becky for the final time in the 8th season she showed up in the episode "We're Going to Disney World!" When she enters the first scene Roseanne says "Aren't you glad that you're here this week?"

Darlene
Darlene Conner, played by Sara Gilbert, is the second eldest child to Dan and Roseanne Conner, sister to Becky Conner, D.J. Conner, and Jerry Garcia Conner, wife of David Healy, and mother of Harris Conner Healy....She initially took after her father, enjoying sports and manual labor, and was remarked to be Dan Conner's son despite sharing her mother's quick wit and smart mouth; also like her father, she was a bit lazy and looked for opportunities to dodge major efforts. In the earlier seasons, Darlene was an underachiever at school, often letting her participation in sporting activities take priority over her homework and upsetting teachers by barking in class.....Following her scribbling of a poem that was acclaimed by her school's fine arts department- as well as moving her mother and aunt Jackie to tears- Darlene took an interest in creative writing and expanded on that in later years.  Later in high school, her poor grades were more a result of disrespect and skipping classes than lack of work quality; however, she was nonetheless accepted early into a Fine Arts college in Chicago, and subsequently studied there for three years- with Roseanne proudly pointing out that she did so without a scholarship or excess financial support.  Darlene also grew increasingly socially isolated in high school, sinking into a depression that her parents did not know how to deal with- although this partially abated after she started working with and dating David (http://roseanne.wikia.com/wiki/Darlene_Conner).

Sara Gilbert's contribution to the show was considered so important to Roseanne that the show's producers juggled storylines and taping schedules to allow her to study at Yale University while remaining part of the cast, shooting remote segments of Darlene at a soundstage in New York  (www.imdb.com/title/tt0094540/trivia?ref_=tt_ql_2).

D.J.
David Jacob "D.J." Conner is the rambuctious youngest child of the Conner household on the TV series Roseanne. The part of D.J. on the series was played by then-child actor Michael Fishman.
The 3rd child of the Conner family and was the youngest before his little brother, Jerry Garcia, was born. D.J. is the most gullible, naive, and foolish of all the Conner kids. Many jokes are made towards D.J. (http://roseanne.wikia.com/wiki/D.J._Conner).

With the success of Roseanne, television networks began offering sitcom deals to stand-up comedians, a practice that continued for years afterward (www.imdb.com/title/tt0094540/trivia?ref_=tt_ql_2).
