The 1st of March 2007 saw the launch of the new pale draught beer Pardál. The brand extends Budweiser Budvar’s existing product range, although it stands out thanks to its significantly different flavour dominated by stronger bitterness, which has been made to measure to please the taste buds of its consumers.
The uniqueness of Pardál consists in the fact that the target group of customers took part in the development of the beer. More than 300 consumers participated in the three rounds of controlled tastings; the brewery technologist adjusted the taste, colour and other characteristics of the new beer according to their objections, which is so far an utterly unique procedure in the Czech Republic.
The South Bohemian market was the first market for Pardál to be introduced to in 2007. As its sales were successful, exceeding the former expectations three-fold, the decision was made to extend its sale over the whole of the Czech Republic. Since the beginning of 2008, Pardál has been available in retails and restaurants throughout the country.
In comparison with the pale draught Budvar beer, Pardál is characterized by a higher fullness, stronger bitterness and its darker – amber – colour. Its alcohol content is 3.8% and its gravity is 9.7 % by weight.
Pardál is brewed using traditional quality materials – a mixture of Žatec (Saaz) hops, Moravian malt and water acquired from artesian wells. It reaches the market in two package formats – in 0.5 litre bottles and the traditional 50 litre KEG barrels.
Due to large interest from customers, Pardál’s co-makers met up for the second time in January 2009 to help create a new version of the popular beer intended for special occasions – 11° pale Pardál Echt (www.budejovickybudvar.cz/en/o-spolecnosti/znacky/pardal.html).

Traditionally, the strength and beauty of the Czech brewing industry lay in the wide variety and uniqueness of its product range. Budweiser Budvar, N.C. decided to go against this trend and enrich the Czech beer culture with a beer of a new, original flavour particularly suitable for the typical Czech beer consumers. Therefore the brewery invited the real consumers, i.e. those who are fond of beer and have experience in its consumption, to take part in developing it. For several months, the aroma, colour and flavour were being tuned in the brewery. Combining traditional brewing skills with the experience of Budweiser Budvar’s brewers and challenging ideas of many beer connoisseurs resulted in the creating of the present Czech beer idol – “Pardál” beer, the perfect beer for sharp and full bitter flavoured beer lovers. The true beer for groups of friends who can label it : “It’s one of us!” (www.ratebeer.com/beer/pardal-sv283tle-vy269epni-pivo/75543/)

Budweiser Budvar, N.C. has launched an 11° newcomer Pardál Echt Pale Lager on the nationwide market, entering thus newly the 11° market segment after many years.
“Pardál Echt follows up with the selling success of Pardál draught beer launched on the market in March 2007, which quickly became very popular. Its popularity is also confirmed by 269,403 hectolitres sold in less than two years, on top of the fact that throughout 2007 it was retailed only in the Region of South Bohemia,” says Budweiser Budvar’s domestic sales manager Martin Horejš.
“Having analysed our portfolio as well as the possibilities in the Czech market, we made a decision to enter the 11° beer segment with our Pardál brand. We want not only to follow up with the significant selling success of Pardál draught beer, but also to make the best of its commercial potential. Last but not least, we are responding to our customers’ demand as they had been calling for a “stronger” version of Pardál,” Budweiser Budvar’s CEO Jiří Boček explains (www.packagingeurope.com/Packaging-Europe-News/31015/Budweiser-Budvar-launches-its-new-11-Pardl-Echt-on-the-market.html).
As of 1st April 2013, Budweiser Budvar, N.C. is launching the sale of a brand new mixed beverage from beer under the name of “PardáOVO Bezové“. The drink contains 2.0 % of alcohol and no chemical preserving agents or artificial colourings are used during its production.
...
“PardálOVO bezové combines the flavour and refreshing aroma of elder flower in a balanced way, at the same time not suppressing the distinct beer character and bitterness. Therefore we believe that PardálOVO will be well received not only by men but also by women.
...
The development of the product began in the laboratory of Budweiser Budvar Brewery in September 2011. In October 2012, 120 consumers joined in the fine-tuning of the parameters of the new drink – for the first time including women as well. The next stage saw a further nearly 1,000 of their friends and family members take part. “The ‘Pardals’ opened their so far strictly male world to women as well, together fine-tuning a beverage that combines male bitterness with refreshing fruit flavour,” says the Pardál brand’s manager from Budweiser Budvar Alena Mazancová. “PardálOVO bezové” is therefore intended for both men and women and should harmoniously connect their often very different worlds. That is why its main message is: “We fine-tuned it in such a way so that we could both enjoy it” (http://www.budejovickybudvar.cz/en/media/archiv-tiskovych-zprav/2013/pardalovo-bezove.html).
