A roundhouse kick (also known as swinging kick or a power angle kick but often confused with the round kick) is a kick in which the attacker swings his or her leg around in a semicircular motion, striking with the front of the leg or foot.[1] This type of kick is utilized in many different martial arts and is popular in both non-contact and full-contact martial arts competitions. The kick has many variations based on stance, leg movement, striking surface, and the height of the kick (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roundhouse_kick) (www.wikihow.com/Do-a-Roundhouse-Kick).
The most devastating kick in martial arts is the roundhouse kick. This is in large part why muay Thai has become the preferred stand up modality for many MMA fighters. While muay Thai allows for elbows, knees, and spinning back kicks, the foundation of the art is the roundhouse kick. While it isn’t necessarily the prettiest kick, it’s the most damaging, and make no mistake, the goal in fighting and the mixed martial arts is maximal damage. ... the muay Thai roundhouse kick is so damaging because it uses the whole body in the same way swinging a bat is ultimately a full body motion. When swinging a bat, we move through the ball, using our legs, core, and arms. In a similar sense, our roundhouse kick moves across the opponent by using the rotation of our bodies when kicking. This kick generates superior force by weight transfer and connecting to the ground, versus the snapping motion that many other martial arts kicks use (https://breakingmuscle.com/kickboxing-boxing/swinging-the-bat-how-to-do-the-muay-thai-roundhouse-kick) (www.howcast.com/videos/504060-how-to-do-roundhouse-kick-in-kickboxing-muay-thai/).

Karate has many different methods of delivering their roundhouse kick (mawashi geri). The original method involved bringing up the knee, and then swiftly turning the hip over and snapping the leg outwards from the knee to deliver a strike with the ball of the foot. The ball of the foot was believed to be more effective and less dangerous than other methods.
... With the blurring of modern martial arts differences, many other variations of the roundhouse kick are now practiced in traditional karate schools. Besides the traditional Full Roundhouse Kick and the sports Small Roundhouse Kick variation, the kick sometimes uses the heel to connect (heel roundhouse kick). The Roundhouse kick is also often executed with a surprising downward tilt from high up, in what has been often called "the Brazilian kick" (downward roundhouse kick) because of influence from Brazilian Kyoukushin Karateka such as Ademir de Costa and notable students such as Glaube Feitosa and Francisco Filho. The kick is regularly practiced with a straight leg as a "low kick" because of muay Thai and kickboxing influences (straight leg roundhouse).... As with many other muay Thai techniques, the roundhouse kick has gained wide popularity due to its extensive use in K-1 kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) competitions due to its effectiveness in inflicting damage to the opponent, as a properly executed muay Thai roundhouse kick has been compared by many martial artists to being struck by a baseball bat. Most Western muay Thai clubs and practitioners avoid the term roundhouse kick, instead using the term angle kick (or side-angle kick and occasionally rising kick)..... The taekwondo roundhouse kick, known as dollyŏ chagi, is performed by first drawing the knee straight up in a "chamber" position. This chamber, identical to the chamber of many taekwondo kicks (front kick, side kick, etc.) is utilized so that the opponent cannot guess which kick will be thrown. This differentiates it from muay Thai and other roundhouse kicks, which tend to incorporate rotation before or during the rising of the knee. The knee is then rotated so that it is nearly parallel to the ground (counterclockwise for the right leg roundhouse) and the kicking hip is simultaneously rotated towards the opponent. The rotation of the hip, combined with the snapping of the leg forward, gives the kick its power. The striking surface is the instep or the ball of the foot. In this way taekwondo differs from Chinese sanshou, where the striking surface is the shin. This is also called an "off the line" or "rear leg" roundhouse kick.
The roundhouse kick can also be thrown from the rear leg towards the target and strike with the lower shin or the instep. This method is to get a quick strike on the opponent before they see it coming. The kick is swung and then snapped in front of the practitioner to give them more power and velocity. The taekwondo kicking method is unique on its own. The variation of the "roundhouse kick" or 邊腿 found in Chinese wushu's full contact portion of sanshou/sanda impacts with the ankle or instep (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roundhouse_kick).
A quiet evening in front of the fireplace: Crackling wood, dancing flames – and then a
kick straight to the face!
Roundhouse Kick Imperial Stout! Brewed for those whose taste buds can never get enough! A real malt and hop bomb – black as night and explosive as dynamite!
Hops: Columbus, Tradition
Malt: Pilsener Malt, Chocolate Malt, Crystal Malt, Roasted Malts (www.crewrepublic.de/en/crew-brews/roundhouse-kick.html)

Ik dacht dat CREW Republic uit Oost-Europa kwam, maar het is Duitsland...
CREW Republic, founded in 2011, is a microbrewery in Munich, Germany. The brewery is known for brewing something else than standard German-type beer. Breaking the tradition is intentional according to the webpages of the brewery. When Roundhouse Kick came available in Finnish market, I was straight away interested about a beer that reminds me of the legendary Chuck Norris (https://olmonger.blogspot.nl/
2016/03/olbeat-026-crew-republic-roundhouse-kick.html).
If Roundhouse Kick was actually an assault I never would have seen it coming as it was black with a medium brown head. Chocolate, molasses, citrus, blood orange, and orange made an excellent aroma. The flavor furthered my pleasure with abundant velvety chocolate and roast coffee. This beer was really good, very smooth and the little amount of char in the flavor helped to remind that it was quite powerful. CREW is one of the best German craft brewer's and this is possibly their best beer (www.averageguysguidetobeer.com/2015/03/crew-republic-roundhouse-kick-imperial.html).
What about the beer?
Colour is pitch black with huge beige head. Aroma has roasted malts with traces of hops and salty liquorice. Taste unleashes heavy bitterness with burned-roasted malts first. The hop-coal combo gets joined with strong black coffee and salty liquorice. Palate is beaten by dry bitter hops and strong citrus flavours in a very black-IPA'ish way. Aftertaste is powerfully dry, roasty and hoppy - a finish-off with style.
Ba-da-boom, ba-da-bing! Rough and aggressive, as the name promises. It's the Chuck Norris of craft beer, kicks and punches in the mouth. I loved the roughness and the complexity (https://olmonger.blogspot.nl/2016/03/olbeat-026-crew-republic-roundhouse-kick.html).
L: -pours the darkest of brown with no light coming through and a medium, frothy, beige head S: -molasses,plums,raisins,chocolate,coffee cherry T: -chocolate,spicy,cinnamon,molasses,car coffee, strawberries, sugar F: -medium carbonation -light to medium body -alcohol noticeable O: A bit sweet and light-bodied, yet still the best german Imperial Stout (non-BA) I#ve had so far (www.ratebeer.com/beer/crew-republic-roundhouse-kick/204590/).

Bottle. Black pour with a lasting tan head. Aroma is creamy chocolate, some coffee, a little boozy, hint of licorice. Taste is surprisingly smooth, lots of chocolate and coffee, some dark fruit, Tastes like many great imperial stouts aged a year or two. Smooth, hides the ABV. Quite nice (www.ratebeer.com/beer/crew-republic-roundhouse-kick/204590/).

auxe (406) - Butzbach, GERMANY - JUL 30, 2016
Pours oily and black from the bottle and leaves behind a creamy tan crown that soon fades. Black as night. The aroma promises coffee, but also carries an enticing floral note. Taste is rich roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, juniper berry. Full bodied and truly a meal in a glass. This beer just looks heavy, and it feels heavy going down. Some beers have a time and a place and I probably did not do this one justice by drinking it on a warm summer night. Felt like a good beer that I was not in the mood to enjoy. Rerate candidate (www.ratebeer.com/beer/crew-republic-roundhouse-kick/204590/).
ogivlado (7215) - Zagreb, CROATIA - JUL 25, 2016
Bottled 330ml. -Black coloured, medium sized brown head, roasty nose. Roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, notes of alcohol, dark chocolate and licorice with again alcohol in the finish. Some light coffee notes also. Not bad at all but a bit too sweet (www.ratebeer.com/beer/crew-republic-roundhouse-kick/204590/).
Keg at the Northern Craft Beers Festival at the Hawkshead Brewery. Deep mahogany, almost black with a thin beige head. Light chocolate aroma. The taste is chocolate at first before quite a smokey finish. Some spice also. Very good (www.ratebeer.com/beer/crew-republic-roundhouse-kick/204590/).
Bijzonder hoe sommigen aangeven hoe complex dit bier is terwijl ik het een mild bier vind. Het is echter zeker wel een aanrader!
