Goose Island has been the subject of much banter since it was sold to Anheuser-Busch for $30 million earlier this year. Some consternation arose with the revelation that some production would be outsourced to the Baldwinsville plant. The company had already outsourced some production to RedHook’s facility in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, under a separate contract. The Baldwinsville plant will now take a larger role in 312 production in 2012, having previously only produced it in kegs (http://beerpulse.com/2011/11/goose-island-312-urban-wheat-coming-to-cans/).
United Airlines and Goose Island Beer Company today announced the two Chicago brands are teaming up to offer Goose Island’s 312 Urban Wheat Ale craft beer on the airline’s flights worldwide and at United Clubs in the continental United States, beginning July 1 [2014] http://beerpulse.com/2014/06/goose-island-312-urban-wheat-ale-joins-united-airlines-flights-starting-july-1st-3274/.

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like the digits suggest, it’s a beer that’s densely populated with flavor and loaded with character. We don’t filter it, so none of its life and soul is stripped away. The first thing you notice is the hazy, cloudy appearance. That’s how you know it’s unfiltered. What hits you next is the spicy aroma of Cascade hops, followed by the crispy, fruity ale flavor delivered in a smooth, creamy body, the result of blending barley malt with torrified wheat. It’s not like any other Goose Island Beer, but no less that you’d expect (www.ratebeer.com/beer/goose-island-312-urban-wheat-ale/30913/).
Goose Island’s 312 Urban Wheat Ale is a Chicago-inspired beer. Densely populated with flavor and named after one of Chicago’s primary area codes, the beer has a spicy aroma of cascade hops, followed by a crisp, fruity ale flavor delivered in a smooth, creamy body that is immensely refreshing (http://beerpulse.com/2014/06/goose-island-312-urban-wheat-ale-joins-united-airlines-flights-starting-july-1st-3274/).
It has “wheat” in the name and your going to taste it in this beer, but with a twist. Goose Island has a bit of a fruity note to their 312–a named derived from their area code in Chicago–and has the appearance of a traditional weissbier. A good offering; both bitter and relatively smooth in character but still lacking in terms of spice that you want to see in a weiss. Not as robust as others in its class but highly drinkable nonetheless (http://thestoutreview.com/2014/12/08/goose-island-312-urban-wheat/).
As many of you know their comes a time in every beer lover’s life when we want to put down the yellow piss beer we been drink for years and dabble in the amazing world known as craft beer. Now I don’t want you to become cultured shocked by the porters, stouts, sours and IPAs so I would recommend this sexy ale as a gateway beer to a lifetime of adventure. Yes, this little sip of beer is smooth, blonde and yes it knows how to have fun. With a rating of 4.0 This beer is a must for any beginner (http://beercarousel.com/2015/03/03/goose-island-312-urban-wheat-ale/).

Yellow coloured brew with an OK head. A bit simple and uninteresting but not bad at all.

MarcoDL (2546) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 23, 2015
Bottle. Golden yellow color. Aroma of grain and malt. Taste of sweat wheat, orange, fruity banana yeast and a slight funky sourness. Boring and simple beer.

ZodiacM (198) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 23, 2015
Lichtgeel, ietwat troebel bier.

Garrold (2120) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2015
Bottle. Booths, Ilkley. Cloudy gold. Bubbly, thick, white head. Fairly bland, lager malt aroma. Pick up a little wheat ale character. Taste is soft sweet. Soft dry. Creamy palate. Finishes light dry. Some sweetness. Bland. (www.ratebeer.com/beer/goose-island-312-urban-wheat-ale/30913/1/2/)
This wheat ale is not particularly memorable or remarkable in any way. It's actually the weakest of all of Goose Islands products that I have tried so far. Not to say it's bad, but their beers are usually very good. Ok, whatever beer here
Antc2382, Mar 14, 2015 (www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1146/17141/)
Hazy straw color with a small white head. Smells like wheat malt with hints of lemon, but the scent is very faint. Very mild malt taste with some lemon flavor. Has a typical wheat beer mouth feel. Overall I feel like this beer left a bit to be desired in the taste department. I feel like a lemon wedge would have benefited this beer a great deal.
Joe_Howard, Mar 11, 2015 (www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1146/17141/)
Pours a slightly dark straw color. Interesting aroma, a blend of earthy tones and some malt. Taste is wheaty, spicy and some elements of mineral water. An easy drinking light and crisp feel. Not a bad brew but a tad on the bland side.

Nah not for me. No real wheat or good things associated with a good wheat beer, just like a cloudy bud. May be a slight better than shock top. Very watery and lemon peel not balanced at all. Blah (www.ratebeer.com/beer/goose-island-312-urban-wheat-ale/30913/1/3/)
ulises77 (13) - México D.F., MEXICO - MAR 6, 2015
Pours a hazy golden yellow color with a very tiny white head that disappears rapidly. Aroma is lightly sweet, malty and yeast. Taste is crunchy thanks to the wheat malt and refreashing with some carbonatation and there is not bitterness at the end. Is just a regular wheat ale very drinkable. (www.ratebeer.com/beer/goose-island-312-urban-wheat-ale/30913/1/3/)
Appearance: Well, it looks something like a beer. The color of urine. Huge bubbles, chunky sediment. Just not that appetizing.
Smell: What smell? There's a slight breadiness that comes across.
Taste: Most wheat ales I've had are tasty. There's hops, there's fruit flavors, there's wheat and bread and maybe even clove. There's complexity. This beer has none of those qualities. It's bland, with only slight breadiness and no discernible fruit or floral qualities that I'd normally look for. A huge disappointment. Poor example of the style.
Feel: It's supposed to be creamy, but it comes off as only partially creamy. At least the bubbles feel nice, but I could get that from many other beers.
Overall: If I was blind-tasting this, I'd be able to guess it's an AB product. It's probably mind-blowing for people used to drinking Bud Light, but I'll be honest, I almost would rather drink a Bud Light because it's easier to swallow. I had to drain pour this, and I hate drain pouring beers.

12oz bottle from Mitsuya’s in Asagaya, Tokyo. Hazy golden yellow with a small quickly dissipating head. Fake honey aroma, with wheat and slight yeast aromas. Powdery on the palate. Not much taste to it at all. Not a good beer. (www.ratebeer.com/beer/goose-island-312-urban-wheat-ale/30913/1/3/)

After living in Germany for four years and drinking a lot of wheat beers I was slightly disappointed in this one. I guess they call it a "pale" American Wheat beer for a reason. It just didn't have the strong wheat taste I've come to expect in a wheat beer.

Torque positioned the beer as uniquely crafted and distinct-tasting, appealing to the everyday drinker looking for a little more taste. A product that perfectly complemented food, music and good times with discerning friends. We redesigned the Goose Island logo mark, then incorporated the new 312 mark. We extended that to a bottle and packaging system, and featured the distinct ingredients, the story of the brew style, and correct drinking glass for the beer.
Our marketing program includes website design, event support, outdoor advertising, radio advertising, on-premise materials, sales support, promotions, event microsites, social media activation and other digital marketing.
Within months, 312 was selling in and selling through at a very rapid rate. Several major retailers began carrying the product and within 8 months over 100 bars had 312 on tap. 312 events and in-store promotions have pushed sales 20% beyond target. After 3 years, 312 became—and remains—Goose Island’s best selling product nation-wide (http://torque.digital/work/312-urban-wheat-ale).
