YOU, DON'T WATCH THAT...") (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madness).

Madness are an English ska band from Camden Town, London, that formed in 1976. One of the most prominent bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s 2 Tone ska revival, they continue to perform with their most recognised line-up of seven members...Madness is continuing with just six members. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madness_(band)).

(https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mot%C3%B6rhead).

Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums, and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2012, they have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.
Motörhead are typically classified as heavy metal, and their fusion of punk rock into the genre helped to pioneer speed metal and thrash metal. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse, and, most famously, gambling.
Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 after being initially diagnosed with an undisclosed aggressive form of cancer, which was later revealed as prostate cancer and heart failure, after which drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell both confirmed that Motörhead would not continue as a band.
....
Stephen Thomas Erlewine, wrote: "Motörhead's overwhelmingly loud and fast style of heavy metal was one of the most groundbreaking styles the genre had to offer in the late '70s" and though "Motörhead wasn't punk rock ... they were the first metal band to harness that energy and, in the process, they created speed metal and thrash metal." Whether they created these genres might be subject to debate, but Motörhead were unquestionably influential.
Although Motörhead is often considered a heavy metal band, Lemmy always described Motörhead's music as simply "rock and roll". In 2011, he said: "We were not heavy metal. We were a rock 'n' roll band. Still are. Everyone always describes us as heavy metal even when I tell them otherwise. Why won't people listen?" In 2014, he reiterated to Der Spiegel that he did not particularly like heavy metal.
Lemmy had stated that he generally felt more kinship with punk rockers than with heavy metal bands: Motörhead had engagements with fellow Brits The Damned, with whom he played bass on a handful of late 1970s engagements, as well as having penned the song "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." as a tribute to the Ramones. Motörhead, Lemmy stated, have more in common aesthetically with The Damned than Black Sabbath, and nothing whatsoever in common with Judas Priest. Lemmy said he felt little kinship with the speed metal bands Motörhead have inspired:
They've just got the wrong bit. They think that being fast and loud is the whole thing and it isn't. The guitar solos are not really difficult for a guitar player, it's just playing scales. To feel a solo and bend into it & I mean Hendrix is the best guitarist you've ever seen in your life. And he learned from people like Buddy Guy, Lightnin' Hopkins and people like that inspired Hendrix. To be influenced by something, you're gonna have to play it the same.
The NME stated that their brief solos were just long enough "... to open another bottle of beer", while a 1977 Stereo Review commented that "they know they're like animals, and they don't want to appear any other way
...The name "Motörhead" is a reference to users of the drug amphetamine. The so-called metal umlaut over the second "o" has no effect on the pronunciation of the name, and was used in several heavy metal bands' names (along with blackletter fonts) to give them a Teutonic feel. The band's distinctive fanged-face logo, with its oversized boar's tusks, chains, and spikes, was created by artist Joe Petagno in 1977 for the cover of the Motörhead album and has appeared in many variations on covers of ensuing albums. The fanged face has been referred to variously as "War-Pig" and "Snaggletooth".....The band's name is usually printed in a lowercase form of blackletter. The umlaut character ö is possibly derived from the similar "heavy metal umlaut" in the name of their 1975 acquaintances Blue Öyster Cult. However, this umlaut does not alter the pronunciation of the band's name. When asked if Germans pronounced the band "Motuuuurhead", Lemmy answered "No, they don't. I only put it in there to look mean".
Snaggletooth B Motörhead on Motörhead's first album: Snaggletooth is the fanged face that serves as the symbol of Motörhead. Artist Joe Petagno drew it in 1977 for the cover of the band's debut album (with designer Phil Smee who turned it into a negative and did the lettering to complete the logo), having met Lemmy while doing some work with Hawkwind. Petagno stated:
The inspiration came from just being a naturally pissed-off bastard! And Lemmy's the same way! So it was bound to be an alchemal wedding of a more "primordial nature". I did a lot of research on skull types and found a cross-breed gorilla-wolf-dog combination would work nicely with some oversized boars horns. Lemmy added Helmet, chains, spit, spikes and grit (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mot%C3%B6rhead).

Lemmy was Motörhead.

Uiteraard...

Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers EP is a 1980 release of a 1977 recording session by English rock band Motörhead.
The songs were recorded during the Motörhead album sessions but, considered outtakes, they only saw a belated release as the band's popularity was at a high with the commercial success of Ace of Spades. Nevertheless, this EP failed to make any impact ...On the original ZZ Top version of "Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers," the vocals are traded between guitarist Billy Gibbons and bassist Dusty Hill, with the two alternating each line. For Motörhead's version, this was replicated by bassist Lemmy and guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke, marking not only the vocal debut of Clarke, but one of the few occasions on which he sang lead on a Motörhead song...In his 2011 book Overkill: The Untold Story of Motorhead, biographer Joel McIver derides the EP: "This is an early example of many, many attempts by the various record companies who ruined, I mean handled Motorhead's career to mould them into less sophisticated versions of themselves." It’s no secret that the guys of Motorhead love a good drink. After the success of the band’s wine endeavor, Motorhead Shiraz, of which a quarter-million bottles have been sold, the trio are now offering fans the very first Motorhead beer, Bastards Lager.
With possibly the most awesome label in the history of fermented beverages, Motorhead’s Bastards Lager has just been unleashed to the people of Sweden. Launched for the 2012 Sweden Rock Festival, the lager may see a broader release in the future, as the official Motorhead Drinks website reads, “at this moment only in the Swedish market.
Although many fans are unable to taste the beer for themselves, the band has offered a detailed description of what consumers can expect. “Motorhead Bastards Lager is a gloriously fresh and fruity beer with a wonderful character of light malt. It’s easy to drink but has a hard rock edge. It’s perfect for all those occasions when you feel that craving for a cold beer such as those summer barbecues and picnics, naturally with music pumping at full blast through the loudspeakers. This Bastard has a refreshing, zesty taste with a nice malt curve and a hint of citrus. A quality beer that can be appreciated by rock ‘n’ roll fans of all ages.”
Hear that, metalheads? Pour some Bastards Lager in your sippy cup and start knocking it back like a real man! Strangely enough, when Motorhead says “all ages,” technically they’re correct, as Sweden does not enforce a legal drinking age for private consumption of alcohol. That said, drink responsibly!

Motörhead Launches New Beer: Motörhead Imperial Pale Lager
The world's loudest band continue celebrating 40 years on the road by crafting a new beer: Motörhead Imperial Pale Lager.
Having crafted the gleeful punishment of eardrums worldwide, MOTÖRHEAD, the world's loudest band, is also moving into the craft beer movement. Like MOTÖRHEAD's music, craft-brewers don't do half-measured weak-kneed bullshit, and so alongside Swedish brewmaster (and headbanger) Patrick Holmqvist at Nils Oscar Brewery, the band has produced a skull-crushing, ground-breaking imperial lager. Proudly carrying a huge hop-infused character way beyond your everyday beer, Motörhead Imperial Pale Lager is more than a kick-ass craft beer, it is synergy.
Mikkey Dee, legendary drummer of MOTÖRHEAD, says: "We've released a few drinks now, and for every one, we want to push the limits further. With Motörhead Imperial Pale Lager, we pulled all the stops, and this is craft beer at its best. We love the approach of Patrick and his crew at Nils Oscar, and we know our fans will love this great beer as much as we do."
Patrick Holmqvist, master brewer at Nils Oscar Brewery in Nyköping, says: "MOTÖRHEAD are a huge part of my childhood, so needless to say I jumped at the opportunity to brew with this iconic band...."I remember watching an interview with Lemmy on TV, and he was asked to describe his style of playing. 'Turn it up very loud, and hit it very hard.' That's exactly what we did with this beer."
...The "Imperial" indicates that it is an amplified version of the original beer style. Generously hopped with Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial and Simcoe hops, it pulls toward an American take of the lager-beer. While being a fruity lager with a huge hop character, it still has a highdrinkability. Not only a huge lager, it also showcases the great brewing skills of Patrick Holmqvist and the Nils Oscar Brewery (www.blabbermouth.net/news/motorhead-launches-new-beer-motorhead-imperial-pale-lager/). Carrying a huge hop-infused character way beyond your everyday beer, this is more than a kick-ass craft beer, it is synergy.

UK music group Madness has followed the trend set by Iron Maiden and has put its name to a beer. (11th June, 2013 www.thedrinksbusiness.com/2013/06/madness-follows-maiden-into-beer/)
The band has teamed up with the Growler Brewery in Essex to create a lager-style beer, with a 4.2% abv, which is called “Gladness”.
...Rob Flanagan, the owner of the Growler Brewery, said: “It’s a joint venture. We will brew it and sell it, we will market it together and they will get a royalty.
“They are passionate about beer and were very serious about the process.
“They did their homework on us and were quite particular about what they wanted to achieve. They didn’t want to develop a beer only for fans, but one that was a good beer in its own right.”
The idea for the beer came after the band were persuaded to contact the brewery by the owner of the Dublin Castle pub in Camden, London. The band made its name in the music venue and still frequent the pub.
Suggs, the lead singer of Madness, said: “After many, many years spent in a pub discussing our ideal beer, we’re very proud of our first attempt — and we’ve got a great excuse to spend a bit more time in the pub.”
The Madness ale follows on from the success of Iron Maiden’s Trooper Ale, which launched recently and has now secured a listing in 450 Morrison’s supermarkets.

The beer is brewed by Growler Brewery in Essex. Gladness is 4.2%, brewed like an ale but with Tettnang & Saaz hops which are traditionally the fave hops of lager producers. I got a subtle blueberry aroma and flavour in the beer, it was also beautifully sweet and ludicrously drinkable (www.beerbeauty.co.uk/madness-launch-gladness/).

The band Madness were said to have been inspired to make their own beer while drinking in the pub where they performed their first gigs in north London, the Dublin Castle. Brewed by one of London’s new wave of breweries Portobello, it’s a crisp, easy drinking lager, which tastes like liquid bread with refreshing citrus overtones from the hops.
It’s currently available in bottles and cans. Visit madness.co.uk for details of the beer’s availability (www.telegraph.co.uk/food-and-drink/beer/rock-and-roll-stars-who-have-created-their-own-beer/).

British Ska band Madness have created a craft lager with Essex-based Growler Brewery – formally known as the Nethergate Brewery.
The beer – called “Gladness” – is said to be a very British lager – brewed as an ale but using only lager hops including the Noble Tettnang leaf hop for lovely floral aromas and Saaz hops to add a nice light bitter finish (www.bruharoo.com/madness-team-up-with-the-growler-brewery/).

According to Sam McGregor of Signature Brew, a London company that produces beers with musicians, it’s a reaction to the quality of beer at your average concert. ‘It seemed like the bigger the gig, the worse the beer was,’ he says. ‘When we started the company, music was in a big black hole as far as beer went – and actually, as we found out, people who were interested in music often had really good taste in beer. It was something that we wanted to change.’ But isn’t it a gimmick? The popularity of some of these beers suggests not. It took just a few months for Iron Maiden’s Trooper to sell 1m pints – while Rob Flanagan, managing director of Growler, who produced Madness’s Gladness beer, says they wouldn’t have got involved if they didn’t think the ‘Nutty Boys’ were in it for the long haul. ‘I got a phone call out of the blue,’ he says. ‘It’s not really what we do, to be honest. “Who is it?” I asked. “Madness”. That interested me, but we wanted to be sure they were into it in the right way. They were.’ So, which of these beers are chart-toppers, and which deserve to be consigned to the bargain bucket? Here are five of the best that are easily available in the UK – and not just at music gigs....Gladness was conceived in The Dublin Castle in Camden, where the band Madness (pictured, left) drinks. Produced at Growler Brewery in Pentlow, Essex it can now be found in pubs all over London. A golden pale ale made with hops traditionally used for lagers (Saaz, which is Czech, and the German Tettnanger), the beer is a distillation of the band’s differing beer tastes. ‘Two of them like dark beers, two like ales, and one or two liked lagers,’ says Growler MD Rob Flanagan. ‘How do you get a style of beer that they all liked? We settled on a light-blonde ale with strong lager tones.’ Two members of Madness, Suggs and keyboardist Mike Barson (pictured), travelled to Essex to see the beer being made. The whole band appear pleased with the final product. ‘The process was a joyous experience, and painless,’ says the band’s saxophonist Lee Thompson. ‘I would recommend this ale to anyone over the legal age and – of course – in moderation.’ Whether you drink it in moderation or not, it’s worth trying. The use of lager hops gives it something different, a lemony kick that is perfect for summer drinking (www.squaremeal.co.uk/news/top-of-the-hops-pop-stars-who-brew-beers).
