Tap 7: Mein Original Schneider Weisse G. Schneider & Sohn From:Schneider Weisse G. Schneider & Sohn GermanyStyle:Wheat Beer - Hefeweizen Ranked #25ABV:5.4% (https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/72/3280/)
It's the art of brewing in its purest form for true wheat beer connoisseurs: "Original"– the traditional wheat beer brewed unaltered in accordance with the original recipe of Georg I. Schneider since 1872 – and since then simply marquee. Of a deep amber colour, harmonically balanced and strong. That's what Bavaria tastes like. And that's also what coming home tastes like - in the comfort of your own four walls as well as at your convivial "Stammtisch". Hops: Hallertauer Tradition, Hallertauer Herkules.
5,4% vol. alc. Hallertauer Tradition, Hallertauer Herkules wheat malt, barley malt open fermentation, genuine bottle fermentation non-filtrated, non-pasteurized 14 IBU 7g/l carbon dioxide 12,8 % original gravity (https://schneider-weisse.de/en/node/12)
by LanceBiggums Much darker than the average weissbier, cloudy amber, the colour of a traditional Märzen, but weissbier hazy. Two finger head (probably poured too gently) of barely off-white, sudsy head, big foamy bubbles. Head faded within a few minutes (again maybe due to my too-gentle pour) but the carbonation kept a sparkling ring going in the centre all the way through drinking. Smell has the typical weissbier banana and medicinal cloves, but a bit muted. Dark fruit, caramel malt, and grain are more prominent than usual for the style. Banana and clove notes are a bit more present in the taste, along with the caramel malts, dark fruit, and sour hops on the finish. The feel is surprisingly thin and watery for such a dark beer, and a weissbier at that. The perky carbonation lightens it and, together with the sour hops, balances the yeast and malt sweetness nicely. Overall, an interesting example of the style, and worth your time to sample. But interesting does not mean classic. I expected a more "textbook" weissbier from the brewery that purports to be the original weissbier specialist. That's not to say it's bad in any way - it's a very good beer, but not the best example of its style in my opinion. The dark fruit and sour hops set it apart from other weissbiers, in a way that could be good or bad, depending on your tastes. Big flavours, to be sure, but not quite as big on the yeast banana and cloves as I had hoped. Still very good and definitely worth a try. by Snowcrash000 from Germany Pours a cloudy, deep, dark amber coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of doughy, slightly bready, caramelly malt and fruity and spicy yeast esters, with notes of banana and clove. Taste is a good balance of doughy, slightly bready, caramelly malt and fruity and spicy yeast esters of banana and clove, as well as very subtle hoppy hints of citrus and apricot. Finishes with a light bitterness and some banana, clove and subtle citrus accents lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation. This is quite dark and rich for a Hefeweizen, with a bit heavier focus on the malts, which lend a certain, light caramel sweetness to this, feeling almost more like a Dunkelweizen. There are still some quite distinct yeast esters to this though, with the clove standing out particularly, which I personally rather like, as well as lighter, quite subtle citrus and stone fruit accents. Overall, this makes for a somewhat unique, quite malty, Hefeweizen that's a bit too sweet for my personal taste, but still is still rather enjoyable for it's distinct yeast esters, subtle hoppiness and rich body and mouthfeel.

Brewing great wheat beer was our passion long before its value and its contribution to the Bavarian "savoir vivre" were commonly acknowledged. Since Georg I. Schneider obtained the right to brew wheat beer in 1872 (the first commoner to be granted this privilege), we have been constantly creating new wheat beer specialities, at times against all odds and conventions, independent of trends and with enduring courage. The knowledge and experience gained over generations is nearly unrivaled in Bavaria, Germany and the world. Wheat beer is a fascinating universe of possibilities, of combining ingredients, flavours, aromas, colours and intensities. That's why we not only appreciate all the different types of Schneider wheat beer we offer today, but also look ahead with excitement, to all the new, exceptional treats we will generate from the wheat beer universe tomorrow … for your very special pleasure. .... Pleasure needs time and ease. Just what it takes to brew wheat beer of an outstanding quality. The commitment, care and patience, that we have been cultivating for many generations today seems a bit out of style. But: resigning from our devotion to the quality of our beer and the enjoyment that comes with it just to save on production costs to us is simply out of the question. Therefore our beer is fermented in open vats instead of closed tanks, to allow the yeast to fully breathe. This is the origin the soft, multi-faceted, fruity and aromatic flavours that are typical for our wheat beers. Afterwards our master brewers skim the yeast with great care and traditionally by hand, in order to remove the so called "Kräuse" (foam caused by the fermentation process) that encapsules the prickly bitter hop resins. As you can see: we have been brewing true "craft beers" long before it became the big hype it is today.(https://schneider-weisse.de/index.php/en/about)
Looking closely at the past of Schneider Weisse, one will uncover two fascinating stories: The first tells of duke Maximilian I. and his rigorous commitment to the propagation of wheat beer, leading to the foundation of the first „Weisses Bräuhaus“ in Kelheim – today's brewing site of Schneider Weisse. A seemingly wholly different story begins far from Kelheim and tells us of the brewer family Schneider, passing on their precious heritage of experience and passion over many generations. Join us on a short trip through the centuries … and see how two stories finally become one. .... Schneider takes over the brewery at the age of 20. Soon he realises that Munich is not an enclave to the rest of the world. Farsightedly he consolidates the brand Schneider Weisse by registering its logo (consisting of two crossed yeast ears) with the Munich patent office. It is to be the world's first registered wheat beer brand. .... Founded more than 140 years ago in Munich, Schneider Weisse continues on a course to success at home and abroad. From the original founder of the brewery to his grandchild in sixth generation the Schneiders managed to ensure sustainable economic growth through innovative entrepreneurship. Good to know that with Georg VII., son of today's head of the brewery, the future of the family business is secured.(https://schneider-weisse.de/en/node/16)
(https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/7Up)
Lithium citrate (Li3C6H5O7) is a chemical compound of lithium and citrate that is used as a mood stabilizer in psychiatric treatment of manic states and bipolar disorder.[1][2] There is extensive pharmacology of lithium, the active component of this salt. Lithia water contains various lithium salts, including the citrate. An early version of Coca-Cola available in pharmacies' soda fountains called Lithia Coke was a mixture of Coca-Cola syrup and lithia water. The soft drink 7Up was originally named "Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda" when it was formulated in 1929 because it contained lithium citrate. The beverage was a patent medicine marketed as a cure for hangover. Lithium citrate was removed from 7Up in 1948.[3] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium_citrate)
