(https://www.bierenco.nl/product/weihenstephaner-hefeweissbier/)

About Sierra Nevada:
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. of Chico, California, and Mills River, North Carolina was founded in 1980 as the 42nd brewery in the United States (compared to 5,300 breweries today) by Ken Grossman. As one of the first craft beer breweries in the US, Sierra Nevada was instrumental in the boom of today’s US beer scene. In just a few years, the brewery, with its innovative and high-quality craft beers, has become one of the largest and best known breweries in the USA. More information on www.sierranevada.com.
(https://www.bierenco.nl/merk/sierra-nevada-brewing-company/)
Deze twee klassiekers zijn samen gaan brouwen!?
You’d be hard-pressed to find two breweries with more upstanding legacies than Weihenstephan and Sierra Nevada. Weihenstephan claims the title of the “world’s oldest brewery,” while Sierra Nevada was one of the pioneers of America’s craft beer movement when Ken Grossman founded it in 1980. Now, in 2018, the two heavyweights have teamed up for a beer that hybridizes what each does best. (https://thetakeout.com/beer-of-the-week-weihenstephan-sierra-nevada-braupakt-1828089076)
Weihenstephan and Sierra Nevada Collaborate on Braupakt Hefeweissbier... Weihenstephan, the World’s Oldest Brewery, has embarked on a dream-team partnership with Sierra Nevada, one of America’s pioneering craft brewers, to create “Braupakt,” the eagerly-anticipated Hefeweissbier. Weihenstephaner Braupakt will be available nationwide in April 2018.
“This is the first time Sierra Nevada chose to partner with a long-established brewery,” noted Tobias Zollo, brewmaster at Weihenstephan. “Both breweries had something to glean and gain from the other. We came in with high standards for the Hefeweissbier style. Sierra Nevada, who is world-renowned for the Pale Ale style, came in with the discerning palettes for fruity and aromatic-bodied beers. With Braupakt, we were able to exceed the expectations of both breweries.”
Brewmasters from the two breweries spent the better part of 2017 on recipe development, ultimately creating the fruity-hoppy Braupakt, brewed with the Hallertauer Tradition hop and refined with American West Coast Amarillo and Chinook hops. Both Weihenstephan and Sierra Nevada are widely recognized for establishing brewing standards for their respective styles, and are renowned for their contributions to contemporary brewing techniques. Braupakt (literally translated; Brewery Pact) merges “old world” purity standards and brewing methodologies with “new world” innovation and hop flavors. The name plays on America’s “bro pact” vernacular for fraternal allegiances and the label features the imperial Bavarian bear sporting a “hang loose” gesture.
“We are extremely excited to share our Braupakt collaboration with the beer community. When we look to create these partnerships, rarely do you get to work with breweries of [Weihenstephan’s] stature and we were blown away by the process,” noted Scott Jennings, brewmaster of Sierra Nevada. “Not only are we blown away by the finished beer… we learned a lot on this journey as well from one of the original visionaries in our industry.”(https://www.brewbound.com/news/weihenstephan-sierra-nevada-collaborate-braupakt-hefeweissbier)

Fles. Heeft een goede weizensmaak en je proeft de sterkere hop. Maar al met al net te zoet en dat is erg jammer. (https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/weihenstephaner-sierra-nevada-braupakt/589096/)

Pure Garbage compared to real Weihenstephaner - pue dung indeed; PLEASE DO NOT WASTE your MONEY on this Sierrra Nevada FAKE - that is, unless you really like semi-bitter ALE because REAL WEIHENSTEPHANER is NOT BITTTER whatsoever ! This GARBAGE tastes like someone poured a bottle of Sierra Nevada Extra Pale Ale or Indie Pale Ale into a glass of Weihenstephaner - it were as though someone drew graffitti or threw dung on a Rembrandt masterpiece....PLEASE GET THE REAL MASTERPIECE which is REAL Weihenstephaner from Bavaria - a MASTERPIECE - and AVOID SIERRA NEVADA at ALL COSTS - PURE DUNG !

11.2 oz bottle, dated 1098 from a Florida Total Wine. Consumed on 10-27-18.
Beer poured with a cloudy orange-amber body topped by a tall, foamy white head that is semi-durable and leaves plenty of lacing.
Aroma: bananas with bubble gum and moderate (yeast & hops) spicing, including cloves. Better balance than usual.
Flavor: bubble gum, spice and banana notes from the German yeast, with light citrus and additional spice notes from American hops.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body that's rather creamy even with high (but soft) carbonation.
Overall: excellent version of the style; not radically different, but better than the original Weihenstenphaner.

11.2 oz bottle, dated 1-31-18 1058 (DWWY, 5th week of 2018) purchased at the Craft Beer Hop Stop 5-28-18. Consumed on 10-21-18.
Beer poured a cloudy orange with a very nice white head that is leaving lacing behind.
Nose is bubble gum and bananas, very nice.
Taste is the bubble gum and banana phenols from the wonderful house yeast strain. Goes down an untraditional path with the use of American hops that provides a citrus finish.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth and creamy.
Overall a very nice beer that is probably still good if cold stored.

Weihenstephan/Sierra Nevada Braupakt
Weihenstephan, that’s this beer’s hefeweizen base. Slightly darker in color than the sunny hue I expected, the beer nonetheless gives off hefeweizen’s signature aromas: lots of clove up front (from the yeast), a little bit of lemon pith (from the wheat), and a restrained bubblegum and black pepper note underneath it all (again from the yeast).
Sierra Nevada’s contribution is the West Coast hop profile that kicks Braupakt from a traditional, by-the-books hefeweizen to… something else. It wasn’t noticeable to me in the aroma, but once I took a sip of this, the hops crashed onto my tongue like the Kool-Aid man—in a good way.
The hop flavors will be familiar to anyone who’s had an American IPA in the past decade: grapefruit skin, zesty spruce, sunny lemon. Those dovetail unexpectedly well with the hefeweizen yeast’s spice to create a synergistic citrus-clove finish that might remind some drinkers of Belgian saison yeast. The whole sip dries out to a refreshing, punctual close.
Whether you’re a fan of German wheat beers, American hops, or even Belgian farmhouse beers (seriously, I think saison fans would dig this), keep an eye out for Braupakt. Braupakt, by the way, means a “beer pact,” which is what these two brewing pioneers have forged. Count me in.

Braupakt: A Collaboration Beer from Weihenstephan and Sierra Nevada

BRAUPAKT’S MEANING
Braupakt (literally translated; Brewery Pact) merges “old world” purity standards and brewing methodologies with “new world” innovation and hop flavors. The name plays on America’s “bro pact” vernacular for fraternal allegiances; the label features the imperial Bavarian bear sporting a “hang loose” shaka hand sign.
“When we look to create these partnerships, rarely do you get to work with breweries of [Weihenstephan’s] stature,” noted Scott Jennings, brewmaster of Sierra Nevada. “Not only are we blown away by the finished beer, we learned a lot… from one of the original visionaries in our industry.”
The limited-edition Braupakt will be imported exclusively by Total Beverage Solution, and Braupakt will be available in 11.2 oz. bottles, 16.9 oz. bottles, and draft nationwide in April 2018. (https://www.totalbeveragesolution.com/braupakt-collaboration/)

The beer has a fine banana yeast note, as well as a refreshing grapefruit note from the Chinook hops.
